Metropolitan Door Company began as a wood working shop in 1940, where we manufactured entry and garage doors. When World War II began, we were called to action and did our patriotic duty by manufacturing ammunition boxes for the military for the remainder of the war. After World War II ended and we no longer needed to manufacture ammunition boxes, we decided to return to our roots and manufacture doors. In 1946, we decided to transition the business again by only manufacturing wood garage doors and Metropolitan Door Company was born. Over the course of the next three decades, Metropolitan continued successfully manufacturing garage doors, becoming one of New Jersey’s premier garage door manufacturers.

As the 1970’s drew to a close, Metropolitan continued to evolve as a company. The company once again transitioned. This time, we decided to focus on the service, repair and installation of garage doors, partnering with some of the largest and most recognized names in the industry. The company continued to grow over the course of the next 40 years.

Due to increased demand for our services, Metropolitan Door Co. became an affiliate of Door Works, Inc. in 2019. Through this partnership, Metropolitan will continue its growth while offering customers the same unparalleled service they’ve come to expect from us.
